CMITO ranks highly in TEC data

The Communications and Media ITO continues to operate as a top performing ITO, according to latest data from the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC).

Each year the TEC ranks ITO performance in the two key areas of credits achieved and qualifications completed by learners. Performance data has just been released for 2012.

In 2012, CMITO learners achieved 96% of the credits they were expected to complete. This compares with the ITO average of 70%.

Sixty-nine percent of CMITO learners completed their training programme in 2012, compared with the ITO average of 68%.

CMITO is committed to working closely with learners and businesses to provide the support required for learners to successfully progress through and complete their training.

CMITO chairman Dan Blackbourn credits this work, paired with the efforts of learners and training supervisors, as critical to CMITO’s solid performance in these key areas.

“While we may be a small ITO compared with other tertiary organisations in terms of numbers, the results over the last three years must put the CMITO as one of the highest achieving ITOs and one that others can only aspire too,” he says.

“The 2012 results show growth in the number of credits and completion rates year on year and is testimony to the commitment and plain hard work from all those involved including those under training, employers, administrators, field officers, management and the CMITO board.

“However while every good result must be savoured, we also need to continue with the good work and look to improve on these achievements for next year,” Dan says.
